  1. Hello Dear friends I was andereing why you used NEEDN’t when I was taught the negation only goes with auxiliaries in fact I don’t understand. For me me Must is the mst possible answer.

      Why did you do the dishes? You really …………… have bothered.
      A mustn’t
      B needn’t
      C couldn’t

      Actually, “needn’t” is used as an auxiliary verb (as a modal verb) in the sentence above.
      “You really needn’t have bothered.” = “I don’t think it was really necessary for you to do that.”
